Ledger > TRX_Reports > Trial Balance
To confirm accuracy of the Trial Balance run it from the TRX_Reports, not the Summary_Reports.
The TRX Reports examine the Audit Trail which is the core source for accounting.
Generally the Trial Balance is run for the last date of the month, but it will accept all dates.
The column total of Debits (DR) should equal the column total of Credits (CR).
If these do not equal it indicates the existence of bad data.
To help locate the data error:
- Make sure the Ledger, Payable, and Invoice Diagnostics are all clean.
If errors are fixed, run the Trial Bal again. - If it still has errors, run the TB for the last day of the previous month.
Repeat each previous month until you see a clean TB.
When the clean month is found that indicates the next month is where the error lies. - If the error month is in a Closed Period Re-Open Period for that month and run Diagnostics again.
Fix any errors. This usually identifies and fixes the problem.
The error month is in an open period and it will require a detailed examination of the Transaction Detail.
If the diagnostics do not locate the error you might need to contact Tech Support for more analysis. - If the error month is fixed and it is in a previously closed period, close that period again.
- Repeat from #1 above.
