If your diagnostics have been running slow lately you can do the followng to speed up the procedure:
1. Run the diagnostic on the server.
Either install PF on the server and run it there, or use Remote Desktop to run on the server.
2. Close periods
Diagnostics will not examine transactions in Closed Periods
3. Rebuild data file
Rebuilding will optimize the organization of the data on the hard disk.
For example, it puts customer’s codes in alphabetical order.
4. Delete unused Stock Numbers
Inventory > Commands > Build Styles > Batch Delete Stock Numbers
6. Run diagnostics at the end of the day, unattended.
Last person out starts diagnostics and leaves the computer on.
Answer YES to “Quit PERFECT FIT after running Diagnostics”.
7. Get a faster server (or computer if you don’t use a server).
The hard disk speed on the server is critical for good performance
8. Purge data
There is no reason to consider this until you have more than a million records in any file.
9. Get an SQL database to store your data
PERFECT FIT can function as the “front end” to a SQL database
Expensive.
