CUSTOM SEARCHES, ADVANCED TOPICS 2

The order of lines in a Search format can affect the efficiency (speed) of the search. Try to put the fields that are indexed at the top of the search. Indexed fields are those that are available when you click the FIND button on a window.
Try not to forget fields that may be taken for granted. The most common error is to create a customer mailing by geographic area, and forget to include the line CMAIL_LIST = YES.
When the Search format window opens, you have the option of clicking New to create a new search. You will need to name the search. You can have as many searches as you want, however Searches will not be saved when upgrading to a new version of PERFECT FIT. We recommend you use the Modify menu to print the Field List for searches you may want to use again.
The Search formats that begin with “!” are the default formats used by PERFECT FIT. The other formats are used by certain reports, so please do not modify them! If you are creating your own New Search, start it with a character (such as “z”), so they will appear together at the end of the list.
