To update Orders or Invoices in PERFECT FIT with tracking numbers and shipping amounts.
Worldship can not write directly to the PFDATA file.
Getting data into PF requires IMPORTING.
Using the Utilities Menu is a poor answer, as importing this type of information may require calculations and possible updates of multiple files. You also do not want to create a field mapping every day.
We have programmed a Worldship IMPORT Tool that works as follows:
From Worldship, you EXPORT shipping data, such as a PICK# or ORDER#, Tracking#, and the Shipping $ Amount.
IN PF, you use this tool to IMPORT the data. The import can update the order, pick ticket, or invoice. Any functions can be added to the import procedure. We have one project that Imports the day’s boxes, records the shipping amounts and tracking number, then inserts invoices – all in 1 step.
The biggest limitation of this technique is that it is not efficient for “real time” updating of picks/invoices as things are shipped. It is only appropriate for batch processing. The most efficiency would be gained by processing ALL boxes shipped on a day at the end of the day. If you ship 50 boxes in a day this tool alone can save hours of entering ship amounts and making invoices.
This tool can do any calculations you want to adjust shipping on the invoice, deal with multiple boxes on 1 invoice, enter COD charges, etc.
If you want to use this tool you must define for us where in the order/pick/invoice/post process the import will happen, what data you want to bring in to PF, and which fields will store your data.
