The PF Shopify API allows direct data exchange between the Shopify platform and PERFECT FIT. This eliminates the need to run daily export and import routines.
New products are still exported and uploaded to Shopify as before.
Inventory Quantities use the API. For phase 1, the user clicks a button that initiates the process to update Shopify Inventory. The same quantity rules are used as in the current export method. Quantities to update are calculated almost instantly, and control returns to the user right away. The communication with Shopify can take many minutes, so that process happens in the background.
Quantity updates for Phase 2 will be run by a timer. You choose 2 times a day to run the update in the background. You will still have access to the button so you can initiate an update if needed due to outside orders affecting inventory.
Retrieving orders works in a similar way. You click a button to get the orders from Shopify. It may take 5 – 30 minutes to retrieve the data, but during that time you have full control over PERFECT FIT. PF stores the retrieved orders in a temporary data file.
When you are ready to bring those orders into PF, you will open the same Import window as usual to preview and validate the data from Shopify. Saving the orders into PF is exactly the same technique as you use now.
The Order retrieval will be put on a timer and you will determine the 2 times per day that you want it activated. PERFECT FIT does not need to be running, so you can have it run first thing in the morning before users arrive to work.
