6002: INVENTORY ERROR – DUPLICATE INVENTORY NUMBER
Duplicate Inventory Number. IVSEQ= xxx.
The most common cause of this is a bad import.
If this is the case, the second number can be deleted using the PROG window.
Other situations we have not been able to reproduce. The number is either inserted, or an existing number is edited to make the duplicate. If a stock number is duplicated in your data, Do NOT use the programmers Window to delete the duplicate.
1. Go to: Menus > Maintenance… *PROG* > Windows > More Windows 3 > Inventory
2. Click Find, and in the IVSEQ field enter the IVSEQ as shown on your diagnostic report. Do not Tab. Click OK.
3. Click Edit and copy the data from the IVNUM field. Press OK, then press the ProgMove button.
4. The ProgMove button opens the INVENT_MOVE window. Press Find then paste the data you copied (from step 3) into the IVNUM field in this window. Then press OK.
The fields will populate with the data for the inventory number you just pasted. If the IVNUM and IM_IVNUM fields match, press the Next or Previous button to scroll through until you
find an instance where IVNUM shows the info you pasted but the IM_IVNUM field displays something different. Normally the data in those two fields always match, however you will
notice that in this case it does not, which is the source of the error. It is likely that the IM_IVNUM data is the correct info. You can verify this by looking at the PO’s and/or Cut Tickets attached to this item.
You can see which PO’s and Cut Tickets are attached via the PONUM and CUT_NUM fields. Pressing the buttons next to those fields will take you directly to the PO or Cut Ticket. If you determine the
IM_IVNUM field is correct proceed to step 5.
5. Press Edit then copy the data from the IM_IVNUM field and press OK.
6. Go back to the PROG_INVENT2 window and make sure it populated with the data from the INVENT_MOVE window. If you are unsure if the data is the same, follow steps 1 and 2 to get back to the window and looking at the same item as before.
7. In the PROG_INVENT2 window press Edit then paste the IVNUM from step 5 into the IVNUM field in this window. Then type in the correct segments in the IVSTYLE, IV_DESIGN_CODE (if the Design field is used), IV_COLORCODE, and IVSIZE_CAT (If you’re using Standard size range this field will either be “!” or blank). Once you have filled out all the fields press OK.
Repeat this process for any other duplicate item errors. When finished run your diagnostics to verify that you do not have any duplicates.
The stock number is a composite of style – color – size, or style – color. If the stock number does not agree with these individual fields then just clicking Edit and then OK will recalculate the stock number and fix the error.
REWARD: The first user that can reproduce the normal operating condition that causes this error, and can cause the condition to be reproduced on the most current version of PERFECT FIT at AG Systems’ offices, will receive a $100.00 Reward.

Quick fix:
- Backup data,
- Go to: Menus > Maintenance… *PROG* > Inventory Reconcile > Delete duplicates.
- Then run a Diagnostic report.
- If any active style numbers were deleted, use the backup to rebuild those items. This should be a last resort solution

Better fix:
- Backup data,
- Go to: Menus > Inventory… Commands > Build Styles > Batch Delete Stock Numbers.
- A window opens which shows all styles. You can see your duplicate style numbers. If you delete style numbers which have been entered on orders and invoices you will get a warning message.
There is also a programmers procedure to batch delete stock numbers by Sequence Number Range. This is recommended if you import duplicates.
- Backup data,
- Go to: Menus > Maintenance… *PROG* > Batch Deletes > Inventory > Delete INVENTORY by Sequence Number Range
- Review your entries and if OK, confirm the action.
