Increasing Free Blocks

    PF7 Only

ERROR 1001, WARNING: Free Blocks in the Data File are too low.

Imagine that PFData.df1 is a glass, and the data that you enter is the water. The distance from the surface of the water to the top edge of the glass is the free blocks. As the water approaches the top of the glass you want to make sure it does not overflow. This is why you add free blocks.

This procedure will help insure that your data remains as stable as possible, and will also help prevent slowdowns as your data file gets larger.

    To increase Free Blocks:
Everyone must sign out of PF in order for this to work.
Go to: File > About PERFECT FIT
Click on the Free Blocks button.
A smaller window will appear telling you how many free blocks are in the datafile.
If the number is less than 5000, you will be prompted to expand the datafile.
    Click Yes.

If the About window does not change the displayed number, Quit PF and then re-open it.

The maximum size of a data file is 268,435,848 bytes, or 256 Megabytes.
When a data file approaches that size, you will need to add an additional segment, called PFData.df2
