ALIGN CHECKS

Contents

When printing checks, if you select “Items Top and Bottom” you will be able to make vertical adjustments to the amount text field and the vendor name and address fields. If “Items Top and Bottom” is already selected, click another button and then back again.

    1. Adjust the top margin to align the date field properly on the check.

    2. If you select “Items Top and Bottom” on the Check print window, you should get entry fields for “Text Vertical Spacing” and “Address Vertical Spacing”. The default values are 18 and 22 and are entered automatically. The numbers refer to the line number from the top of the check.

If “Items Top and Bottom” is already selected, and the 2 adjustment fields do not show, select some other check form first then select again “Items Top and Bottom”.

You must use the mouse to enter the fields, even though they appear gray.

    3. Enter a different value to modify the alignment for each of these fields. Adjust them by single units only, ie. change 18 to 19, not 20. You may need to print the check twice to see the changes.

Once this is set for the “Items Top and Bottom” check, it will remain set.

After obtaining proper alignment, click “Do Not user Vertical Controls”. This will “freeze” the setting.

These adjustments do not affect the other check forms, or custom forms.

    Alternative:
Click Print A to use the Form Editor. Layout the check exactly as you wish.
All users have access to the Form Editor for the checks, even if you have not purchased this module.

If the columns of the amounts on the check stub to not align that can usually be fixed by changing the font of the text blocks to a Monospaced font. Try Courier New.
